|Karl is a materials/solid state chemist, with experience in materials synthesis, characterisation and the effects of radiation damage. Karl joined ANSTO in August 2007, from the University of Sheffield.
|Karl has worked on developing the capabilities within the Institute Of Materials Engineering to study the effects of radiation damage in materials, both waste form and core related.
|Karl has extensively used a range of diffraction techniques, e.g. X-ray, neutron and electron, to study a wide range of materials, both crystalline and amorphous.
|These results are now being used to determine the effects of radiation damage and how it can be mitigated/predicted. His expertise includes materials synthesis and characterisation, diffraction techniques i.e. X-ray, electron, and neutron,
|Raman spectroscopy and radiation damage.
